Brigid completed her medical training at the University of Western Australia, graduating in 1997 with degrees of Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.  

Brigid completed her intern and resident years at Royal Perth Hospital before being accepted onto the plastic surgery program in 2003. Following 5 years of comprehensive specialist training in all aspects of adult and paediatric plastic surgery and passing her fellowship examination, Brigid was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2008.

After qualifying as a Specialist Plastic Surgeon, Brigid undertook further post-fellowship training in Ireland, England and Melbourne. During this time she completed a 12 month plastic surgery fellowship in Oxford, UK, including six months purely focused on hand and micro-vascular surgery. Whilst in the UK, she also had the opportunity to attend courses run by the British Society for Surgery of the Hand, to gain exposure to the latest opinions and techniques in hand surgery. On her return to Australia, she completed a six month Advanced Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship at the Melbourne Institute of Plastic Surgery.

Brigid returned to Perth in 2010 and joined the West Australian Plastic Surgery Centre. She holds a positions as Head of Department of Plastic Surgery and Consultant Specialist Plastic Surgeon at Royal Perth Hospital. She has a strong commitment to the training of future surgeons and is regularly involved in teaching both medical students and plastic surgery registrars.

Brigid has published articles in a number of plastic surgery journals and has presented papers at national plastic surgery meetings.

Brigid is an active participant in the Rafiki Surgical Mission which organises regular charity surgical missions to Tanzania.
