Dirck completed medical training in 2002, graduating from the Cayetano Heredia University, Peru, South America with a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery.
Following this in 2004, Dirck emigrated to the UK where he completed surgical rotations in London and Belfast.
Between 2000 and 2013, Dirck completed elective rotations in Brazil, Spain and France. In 2016, Dirck was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
After finishing plastic surgery training in Perth, Dirck spent more than two years completing hand and wrist surgery fellowships, gaining experience with internationally recognised hand surgeons in New Zealand, Spain and Argentina. Dirck worked at the Middlemore Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand (2016-2017), completed hand surgery rotations in Argentina in 2017, Kaplan Hand Institute in Barcelona 2018 and Piñal Plastic and Hand Surgery Institute in Santander and Madrid in 2018.
Dirck has published a number of contributions to hand and wrist surgery including book chapters and journal articles. His work can be found in the FESSH instruction books from 2019 and 2020, “Problems in Hand Surgery” published by Thieme 2020 and the journals: The Surgeon and Journal of Hand Surgery (European).
Dirck is also actively involved in the training of plastic surgery trainees and junior doctors locally through anatomy sessions, regular teaching activities and workshops.
Dirck joined the 1300HANDOC team in 2021 and is also Head of Department of Plastic Surgery and a Consultant Specialist Plastic Surgeon at Royal Perth Hospital. He is also a Consultant Specialist Plastic Surgeon at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and the hand unit at Fremantle Hospital.
